I enjoyed this post because it’s the first thing in a week that’s tagged with my name and isn’t a catalog model dressed as a sensual hamburger or piece of candy corn.
These are scans from SKIM, the first graphic novel I did with my cousin Mariko. Our new one comes out in the Spring.
I hear this a lot lately… ADULTS saying: “ooh, I read Skim when I was in junior high and it really spoke to me!” It makes me feel very old. Old and nice.
Excerpts from Skim (written by Mariko Tamaki, Illustrated by Jillian Tamaki)
This is the graphic novel that got me into graphic novels.
I read it for the first time when I was 17; I’m 22 now and still re-reading it over and over with the same undeniably strong sense of association I felt when I was younger.
Everyone needs to read this piece of magic.
